Small and medium-sized companies
ABPLAN has served a wide range of companies through the years, but its main focus had been small and medium-sized companies and in particular professional service companies. Some were large, but in such companies the assistance was give to a particular team. Most of the companies were small to medium sized, prosperous and led by the owner and a small team of managers.
Note: Successful companies are usually driven by an MD who knows what he or she is doing. The success of a company is usually a reflection of the success of the owner. Such companies are successful because of the personal qualities of owner. Are you an ideal MD and therefore would be an Ideal Client? Most of my clients display or displayed many of the qualities listed under ideal client.

- A major accounting firm which has a division which specialised in providing services to local government, that is, municipalities.
- A small broadcasting company which produces environmentally-oriented programmes

Parastatals
ABPLAN has provided services to three major parastatals. They all have one major shareholder namely the South African Government or a provincial government.
- In one case ABPLAN assisted the largest branch of a development bank consisting of branch manager, 30 economists and project managers, with a six-month programme of strategic planning and the effective use of Balanced Scorecards.
- For a second parastatal, ABPLAN ran a one-day strategic planning workshop.
- For a third, ABPLAN firstly conducted a scenario conversation for head office and its representatives from all the provinces which ended in a strategic plan and, secondly, coached a small head office team in the use of a Balanced Scorecard.

Universities, colleges, academies & companies involved in training
ABPLAN assisted small teams of various departments in two universities namely the University of Cape Town's Business School and the University of Stellenbosch's Sport Science Department.
It also assisted a college and particular its director, a wine academy, a training company, a provider of long-distance IT training courses and a school of floristry.

Trusts and public-benefit organisations
ABPLAN enjoyed working closely with a range of trusts and public-benefit organisations or non-profit organisations (NGOs), as they are also called.
This collaboration and assistance stretched between six months to four years.
ABPLAN is at present has one public-benefit organisation as client. I am proud of the fact that the Stellenbosch Community Development Programme (SCDP), superbly serves the nutritional needs of small children in two primary schools and in a growing number of crèches in Kyamandi, Stellenbosch. The SCDP has adopted formal planning and operational systems, does proper marketing and practices good governance by applying solid business principles to a degree which is the envy of most private sector visitors.

Confidentiality agreement
By accepting a brief, ABPLAN honours client/consultant confidentially in regard to any sensitive inside information that a client may divulge. If the client so wishes, a Confidentiality Agreement could be concluded. In all the years no client ever signed such an agreement with me.
