  • PricewaterhouseCoopers for whom we redesigned the private sector Balanced Scorecard to make it applicable to a local government environment with due regard to guidelines concerning the South African Integrated Planning Programme (IDP) and legislation governing the functions of the national and provincial Departments of Local Government. The brief included the writing of a backgrounder and the development of a BSC strategy map for local government
  • A golf tourism agency whose clients (26 tourism agencies abroad) send golfers to Africa for golfing vacations at South Africa's and Africa's most exclusive golf resorts
  • A private investor intent on acquiring an exclusive boutique wine farm
  • An international trade and investment co-ordination centre, dealing with imports and exports between South Africa and the People's Republic of China
  • PostNet, Somerset West, a business support centre
  • Enviroworld, a radio and media station that specialises in producing broadcasts to Africa
  • A sports management company that established a Tennis Academy at Spier Estate
  • A Dutch citizen running a lodge cum conference centre
  • A Danish citizen, in Kuala Lumpur, who required a business plan prior to settling in South Africa to become a partner in a South African company. (The entire process was handled by e-mail.)
  • Two travel agencies, one of which evolved out of the other
  • Two software development companies
  • A planning consultancy, which needed an outside opinion on a proposal, aimed at obtaining an equity partner
  • George Hazelden Properties, whose owner created a new town and a business park, four types of residential areas, a shopping development and an international school
  • Four independent Old Mutual financial consultants who decided to apply the principles of action learning in a supportive instead of a competitive situation
  • A company of consulting engineers and project managers that wished to reposition itself and to redefine its direction
  • Greengate, an organic deli cum eatery in Stellenbosch which is a unique and much frequented eatery
  • A strategic proposal for a manufacturer in the Cape who sought a loan or an equity partner as the company wishes to expand its production capacities
  • Urban Dynamics, a group with a company in each of South Africa's provinces and in Namibia, which redefined their direction as a group and their group structure
  • Wine Desk, in the Cape Town Tourism Centre in the Waterfront. This company specializes in brokering wine-tourism and in promoting services to wine estates/farms in the Cape Winelands
  • KitchenAngel, a culinary consultancy that runs a cookery school and provides food designer services in South Africa and in the United Kingdom. It also runs a four-star guesthouse
  • Adv Theo Nel, an advocate in Cape Town
  • Smith Chamberlain and Associates, Johannesburg, a dynamic company of industrial psychologists
  • The Casino Association of South Africa (CASA) which required two strategy workshops
  • ProBron, a sourcing company serving the agriculture sector, schools and clubs
  • The Aleit Group, which grew from one company into five within 12 months: The Aleit Collection, Aleit Weddings, Aleit Event Projects, Aleit Music and Entertainment and Aleit Shop
  • Okasie, a team of top flower stylists, Stellenbosch
  • Elsje Designs, a trend-setting graphic designer company. It offers graphic paper art for weddings, for celebrations, for corporate business, and designed and hand-made gifts for guests
  • Decorous, an interior decorator which provides complete interior decorating services to homes and offices
  • Foci Function Concepts, an event stylist who works throughout South Africa with clients such as the annual Nederburg Wine Auction, J&B's marquee at the J&B Met, BMW launches, British American Tobacco, and others
  • BGR Aucamp Scholtz Inc, a prominent audit firm in the Helderberg
  • Crystal Direct, the importing arm in South Africa of Crystalex, based in the Czech Republic. Crystal Direct has opened three showrooms in the Cape and has expanded its presence in South and Southern Africa. It imports fabled Bohemian glass, hand-blown and machine blown, and retails to top hotels groups, restaurants, wine estates and major retail shops
  • ask><answer corporate communication design, a graphic design company offering specialized design services concerning corporate identity and logos, printed matter and websites
  • BMTC, a multi-disciplinary service practice of tax consultants, accountants, bookkeepers, payroll experts, a lawyer and a financial planner, based in Gauteng with clients nation-wide
  • ThinkSmart, a company specializing in developing made-to-measure open-sourced business applications and in network security
  • The Letterpress Company which specializes in producing the most equisite, bespoke letterpress stationery for men and women with discerning tastes who value the traditional craftmanship of a bygone era
  • Diverso Konica Minolta, a company in the Helderberg/Somerset West, that specialises in providing tailored office solutions by means of very sophisticated bizhub office machines, which embody copier, printer, server, digital storage, and other functions
  • Tax Library, a company which specializes in providing expert tax advice and strategic tax opinions to businesses, which offers training to management and staff of major corporations, audit firms and others
  • CraigCoaching, a professional sports dietician who operates in the Helderberg/Somerset West with branches in Cape Town and in Stellenbosch
  • PNA, a retail company in the Strand with two branches, one in the Somerset Mall and one in Somerset West, with a focus on stationery, arts and crafts materials and books
  • Greydogs, a company that coaches developmental and competetive swimming with children and adults as clients and which operates from the Virgin Active Club, Waterstone, Somerset West
  • Maarten Meyer Attorneys, a law firm in Somerset West specialising in family and child law, in debt couseling and debt reviews
  • Oosthuizen & Co Meyer de Waal Attorneys. a law firm in Cape Town, specialising in property conveyance, property law, wills, trusts and estate planning. This firm is also a partner in Your Business Fitness (YBF) and Rent2Buy which coaches and assists potential homeowners to meet the loan requirements of the Credit Act and become eligible for loans.
  • Summerstrand Hotel, Port Elizabeth, for which ABPLAN faciliated a Scenario Conversation resulting in a Strategic Plan and a Balanced Scorecard
  • Jacques Joubert MediationSolutions, a company which specialises in mediating solutions aimed at creating win-win situations and keeping people and companies out of court
  • FeedbackRA, Pretoria, a research and analytics services provider of empirical data to, among others, SA Government Departments. ABPLAN conducted a Scenario Conversation which resulted in a Strategic Plan and the installation of a Corporate Balanced Scorecard
  • Rothko, a media communications agency in Cape Town with, among others, the University of Cape Town and the UCT Business School as clients
  • R.O.I. Media, a IT marketing company on Cape Town which offers Search Engine Optimisation, (SEO), Pay Per Click (PPC), Conversion Optimisation, Social Media Marketing, E-commerce and Website Design to South African and international clients
  • Neilsons Attorneys, Table View, which specialises in family law and estates
